A whopping 85% were
all for it. They were eager to learn, but
just didn't necessarily know where to go
to get more information. So they usually
ended up in the health food store asking
lots of questions.

Keep asking people!

Sooner or later we'll get the hang of healing
ourselves and take this healthcare business
back where it belongs -into our hands!

I'm seeing more classes coming up,
more conferences, more articles.
As long as you stay with the basics -
using food as medicine, herbs, enzymes,
juicing, you can't go wrong.

There's a lot of therapies out there
that can get kind of kooky. I tend to
use those that use oxygen in some form,
like hyperbaric oxygen and which has
enough studies to prove it works.

Studies are good, clinical evidence
is better, experience is the best!

In my 30 years I've tried a ton of
stuff, and have learned it's not too
complicated. I just have to remember
to stick with the basics.

Alternative medicine in my head means
using those therapies that make sense
to me. Make sure it makes sense to
you as well before you try it.

Great health!
Dr. Judy

Traveling Healthy

Just got back from a week trip to Barbados.
On the way there it was a looooonnnngggg
flight. On the way back it became doubly
long when the last flight of the day was
cancelled. Bummer!

Tons of people got irate - lots of eye
rolling, sighs and cursing going on, but
it never really helps.

I've found that staying calm cool but firm
helps. When they said they had to give me
a flight for the next day, I politely
asked to be booked on another airline, which
they did. PLUS they gave me a $10 meal voucher
and $100 transportation voucher.

I could have gotten some greasy junky food
with the voucher, but I found a nice healthy
bottle of juice, whole grain muffin, protein
bar and fruit salad. I was happy as a clam
knowing I would have some food on the plane!

Overall, I do tons of travelling and follow
my old mentors advice - Paul Bragg - that
eating light is the way to go. Salads, soups,
fruit, etc does help to feel refreshed after
a long day of flying.

I used to have heavy hard to digest meals
at airports. Once on the plane I'd promptly
fall asleep and feel sluggish after the
plane landed. Plus I had that scummy feeling
in my mouth! Yuck!

When I stick to a more healthy plan, I only
need a light nap, plus I wake up feeling
refreshed and rested. It works folks!

Until next time,
Dr.Judy

Reasons I Don't Drink Coffee

The only good thing about coffee is that
Starbucks is making a ton of money! Wouldn't
you like to see some of that in your pocket?

You can.

Stop drinking coffee, put that money in
your piggy bank, invest it, and bingo!

Ok, so it's not that simple, but it would
be a start!

Here are some reasons I don't drink coffee...
It doesn't help insomnia!
I drink camomile tea instead if I need to relax.

Gives a buzz, but then you eventually crash
and burn. I find that when I get enough rest,
eat well, and work out, I have plenty of
energy.

Caffeine can cause uric acid crystals to build up.
Bad news for joints. It can eventually lead to
gout and arthritis. So instead drinking water,
apple juice, or freshly made juice is way better.

I don't like headaches, and I know coffee can
definitely attribute to headaches. Being in a
hot and humid climate, I've learned to drink
smoothies instead. Yum!

Herbal teas are my favorite. I'm finding that
some towns now have herbal tea shops with
delicious tea blends. Usually sweetened with
stevia which adds another great flavor, plus
it's excellent for maintaining blood sugar.

My favorite is to buy some exotic teas and then
put the in a glass jar. I then put it outside
to let it steep in the sun for the day. After-
wards I'll keep it in the frige and add lemon
or stevia.

Enjoy a coffee free, high energy day!
Judy

Getting kids on the healthy track

After raising 3 kids who are now all in their twenty
somethings, I realize how easy I had it. I stayed at
home. Homeschooled them. And cooked everything from
scratch. Not all moms have this luxury I know.

The upside of this lifestyle was that my kids worked
up healthy appetites and ate almost everything I put
in front of them. My one son would eat potato salad
and coleslaw instead of cake!

The downside was that financially it was an
absolute killer trying to survive! Thanks mom
for all your help during those years.

Whether you stay at home or not, you still have
to get your kids to eat their vegetables. Here's
some creative ways I used to do it...

Sipping juice instead of soda.

Making fresh vegetable juices is the easiest way
to get kids to 'eat' their vegetables. Carrot juice
is becoming more and more popular in the grocery
stores so you don't even have the mess of cleaning
up the juicer afterwards.

Take a large glass with a straw, and pour in the
carrot juice. I would recommend diluting it with
water since carrot juice can be very sweet.
Throw a cherry, grape, or other large piece of
fruit in. Now have them sip on the juice until
they 'find the cherry'!

Until next time,
Judy

Beautiful Skin is Only a Brush Away

Here in South Carolina I thought there would be
lots of women with beautiful smooth skin. I'm
finding however the opposite...everyone is
complaining of dry, itchy skin.

After coming back from the Caribbean islands,
where everyone truly has gorgeous skin, I
went back through my notes.

Here's what I found:
~ natural fats vs bad fats
I know on the islands they eat lots of fried
foods, which are the bad fats.

So what makes their skin so great?

They use, eat, soak in coconuts!
Everywhere you go there's coconut milk
served. The older generation is big into
using coconut oil as well as olive oil
for the hair. Leaves your hair feeling
absolutely luxurious. I couldn't believe
how much better it felt than any conditioner
I've ever used!

Putting coconut oil on your skin instead
of lotions is also fantastic. The skin
needs as much natural fats as possible
and coconut is definitely easy on
the skin AND the inside of your body.

But here's an old stand by...

Using a dry brush on your skin before you
shower works wonders in getting that old
dead flaky skin off. Plus it leaves your
skin feeling smooth and silky.

While in the shower, scrub your body
all over with natural sea salt. Just a
handful, wet it, and scrub your skin from
head to foot. You will be amazed at how
smooth your skin will become!

Until next time,
Judy

Are You Working on Your Health Education?

This week I had an eighty year old woman come into
my office with a book called:
"Celiac Disease - A Hidden Epidemic" by
Peter H.R. Green, M.D.

I was proud of her for striving to learn all
she could about her disease which she's had for
over twenty years. She knew her symptoms well,
knew which foods aggravated her, and how far
she could make it out of her house before she'd
be in trouble with diarrhea. Not a pleasant life
to be sure, but she had managed.

In a few short weeks we turned things around
for her. Mostly it was just getting the right
enzymes into her. She's a happy camper now!
She even did her big experiment of eating a
food she hadn't had for years. She did just fine.

I'm big on educating people about all aspects
of their disease. The problem I find is that
they look only at their initial symptoms and
not the big picture. The key is to look at the
body as a whole.

Once the offending issue is removed, whether
it's stress related, food related or whatever,
the next step is to feed the body the right
tools that it can begin the healing process.

Until next time,
Judy

Health and Beauty Skin Care Lessons I've Learned

As I long for the days to be outside basking in
the sun instead of stuffed in my 'cave' (read-office)
I'm also aware of the damage the sun can cause.
Lots of people come to see me After the fact and
wonder why their skin is so dry and brittle even
though they use the best skin lotions.

I'm a strong proponent for taking care of the
Inside of my body. I've learned that when I'm
well hydrated, eating fresh fruits, keeping my
organs humming along my skin looks great.

As I'm now starting out my new decade of 50's,
I do notice that my skin is not as supple as
it once was. But do I really expect it to
look like my twenty-one year old daughters??
Nahh!

I did an experiment where I tried taking a
tablespoon of flaxseed for a few months but
the taste can gag a maggot! Then onto using
Vitamin E but that made my stomach feel
queesy. I ate lots of guacamole when I lived
in San Diego thinking the natural fats would
be good for me. I just ended up putting on
a few extra pounds.

Then I started rubbing my body down with
extra virgin olive oil after my showers. But
that only made me feel like a greased turkey!
I'm not one to use lots of lotions, since
I know most of them contain chemicals and
preservatives I don't want on my body.

I finally hit on a great way to take care
of my skin. About once a month I do a couple
of colonics, clean out my liver by taking
liver herbs, and rub my body with fine sea
salt crystals during my shower. Wow! Baby
smooth skin! I love the feeling!

I only do this a couple of days out of a
month and have found that my weight is staying
stable, my skin is glowing, I feel super!

Until next time,
Judy

Do You Really Need Vitamin Supplements?

Yesterday I had a woman come to my office with a
stack of mail she receives on a weekly basis trying
to get her to buy:
super probiotics
nattokinase
vitamin E
mega minerals
artery cleanser
Co Q10
and many more products all related to heart disease.

My client was in her 70's and already had major
heart surgery. She was trying to avoid another one
so she was trying all these supplements they were
promoting in the mail.

I don't have an issue with supplements. I definitely
feel there's a time and place for them.

But to rely on them solely thinking they will
heal your body is another issue. I have never
seen supplements actually heal a disease. They
might delay a disease. Or make people feel better
as long as they're taking them.

This woman never exercised (due to her pain),
ate a high fat diet, and was looking for a quick
fix either through supplements or a therapy.

Not going to happen without doing some major
lifestyle changes!

Until next time,
Judy

What I found out about Splenda

Splenda (brand name for sucralose) is a chlorocarbon.
That simple fact stopped me in my tracks because I
know that anything that is not a natural substance
will destroy my red blood cells.

A couple of days ago I was giving a talk for a group
of wonderful ladies ranging in the 60+ age or so.
ALL of them were on Splenda. They ALL believed the
media that this was just like sugar!

I was shocked!

After telling all my clients about the dangers of
aspartame over the years, I couldn't believe that this
was on repeat cycle with Splenda!

I double checked my notes.

Yep!

The symptoms from aspartame are almost identical to
Splenda.

Here are the main symptoms that keep coming up:
~ up to 40% shrinkage of the thymus gland (one of the
main glands for the immune system)
~swelling of the liver and kidneys
~calcification deposits in the kidneys
~irritation of the bladder
~blood in the urine
~blurred vision
~swelling in the fingers and legs
~headaches
~bloated abdomen
~diarrhea
~blotch rashes on the hands, elbows, thighs (this is what
I see the most of in my office)
~muscle and joint aches

ck out:
www.holisticmed.com/splenda/

Surprisingly, the ladies all went to lunch and
discussed their new found discovery and many of
them decided to stop using splenda. They called
and asked me what they can use to substitute.

The best is to use honey. Stevia is nice but has
such a unique flavor not everyone likes it.
Agave syrup, brown rice syrup are pretty exotic
for this bunch, so I recommended the honey, fructose,
turbinado sugar, or even molasses.

I'm waiting for the day when enough people learn that
the symptoms from Splenda are destroying their body.
Once there's enough awareness, it will be taken off
the market soon.

Until next time,
Judy
PS For those of you who may not know...Equal, and
Nutrasweet are the same as Splenda.

Was Dr. Schultz Right???

I went to Dr. Schultz' seminar a few years back
along with a few hundred others. We wanted to
hear the real guy up close and personal.

Personally, after reading Sam Biser's newsletter
for years (now online), I called him and asked
if Schultz was actually for real. There's so
many medicine shows out there it's hard to tell
anymore!

I met with him and his wife in Starbucks when he
was still living in L.A. Had a nice chat and he
basically assured me Schultz was the real deal.
Although we both wondered where all his miraculous
cures were. You would think they would be shouting
off the rooftops that they were healed by Schultz.

Many blue moons later, with 2 of my own health
clinics under my belt, I've learned that while
Schultz was right about many of his healing
methods it was much too drastic for most people.
On top of that, those who do get healed, tend
to go their way and never tell anyone! Go figure!

What I suggest now to people is to simply find
your own pace. Your own rhythm of healing.

When you wake up in the morning, find out what
your body is needing. Stretch. Move. Then listen.

Some days you might need to simply rest.

Other days you need to kick into action and
make a bunch of juice to drink every hour on
the hour.

Schultz chose to work with the hard core cases
and my hats off to him for putting in his due
diligence. Cancer is tough and you have to be
tougher AND have a tough team of supporters.

You might not be able to get Schultz up in
your face anymore, but his videos are still
around. If you need a good kick in the pants,
listen to him being interviewed by Sam Biser.
Refreshing!

Until next time,
Judy

Computer Geeks Beware of the Inner Tube!

This Saturday I attended a great seminar for people who
love to blog, podcast, or vlog. Excellent information!
Super nice people! Well worth the time!

Being the observant traditional naturopath that I am,
I did notice lots of belly jelly wiggling! I know for
myself that when I 'm sitting behind the computer too
long, my posture begins to go. My eyes get itchy.
My back begins to ache.

So for all my new found computer geeky friends and
soon to be friends, let me share with you a few tips
I hope will help you!

~ Blink and Breathe!
Do you ever end up staring at the computer screen so
long the words begin to blur???
It's extremely important to look up from the screen
every few seconds (yes I said seconds!). Take a
glance out the window. Look at the wall.

While you're doing this, take a deep breathe.

This will immediately get more blood flow to your
brain. Which of course then helps you to think
better, think faster! Yeah!

~ Shrug your shoulders.
By simply lifting your shoulders all the way to your
ears, you loosen the stiffness in your upper back.
Again, this allows more blood flow to your brain.

~ Keep your posture.
By keeping your arms level with your keyboard,
sitting up straight, both feet level, all will keep
stress to a minimum. No more putting your laptop on
your lap!

If all else fails, get out and get some fresh air!
Being inside all the time working behind the screen
can do some serious damage to your body in the long
run. When there's lack of circulation, your body
begins to swell (ankles, wrists, arms, etc). Or
your blood flow can actually slow down and sludge up.

Your body is made for movement.

Keep a stationary bike in your room.
Have some free weights or other exercise toys around.
I like rubber bands, but anything that catches your
interest is fine. I personally like to throw a
Koosh ball around. It gives my eyes some much needed
rest!

Until next time,
Judy

Can You Live Without Health Insurance?

There was a discussion the other day about trying
to find health insurance that was reasonably priced.
Not only is hard to find insurance that doesn't cost
and arm and a leg...but other factors like being
able to afford the deductible, being qualified,
age, etc come into play.

Personally, I've never had health insurance, and
at 50 years of age not worried about ever getting
it. Here's why:

~ I don't think insurane companies will be there
when I really need them. I see so many people suffering from
all kinds of diseases and thinking insurance will
cover them. Guess what? When they do finally go
in to see the doc, they end up paying tons for
either meds or therapy. They'll get you one way
or another!

~ I don't worry because I make sure to take
care of myself first. Why would I end up paying
all that money on insurance, when I can pay
for fun and healthy therapies that prevent
disease?? Anyone for a massage?

~ I also like to enjoy life by not worrying
about day to day diseases. This is something
none of the health insurance companies will
ever cover! By eating well, exercising, doing
relaxing fun therapies every week, I feel
great! Plus, because I've learned the tools
of healing, I feel in control of my health.

Until next time,
Dr. Judy

Living longer can be done WITHOUT eating a perfect diet!

I am so tired of society's focus on having a
perfect diet which is 'supposed' to equal a perfect
body.

Don't get me wrong... I do believe eating well
is very important. And yes, I do believe food is
our medicine. However, there is sooooo much more
to wellbeing than just food.

I love the study that's been going on where they
ask centenarians (people who live to 100 years)
what their secret is to a long healthy life.

The first time I heard about these studies was
at an Anti-Aging conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Doctors from all over the world were there to
learn how to keep people looking gorgeous as
they aged. Med-spa's were popping up all over
the world to keep up the image of aging
gracefully.

But what surprised me the most was when
Ken Dychtwald, phd spoke at the conference
and showed that the most common reason that
people lived to a ripe old age of 100 was
because they had a great attitude, belief in
God, and living for what they believe in.
Eating specific foods to maintain health
was far down the list!

Surprise! Surprise!

When we are happy, having healthy relationships,
helping others, giving, these are qualities
that keep us healthy. Mental, emotional, and
spiritual balance are extremely important
for our wellbeing. I believe that without
feeling loved or loving others is much
more detrimental to our health than
what we eat.

Until next time,
Dr. Judy

Microwaves Cut Your Life Short

What???

You haven't heard how microwaves zap your food
so fast they actually KILL vital nutrients??

Russia and most of Eastern Europe outlawed
microwaves years ago. As usual, Americans are
a bit behind the times when it comes to their
health.

Here's what you need to know about microwave
cooking:
Microwaves are electromagnetic energy traveling
at the speed of light.
The radiation that microwaves produce changes
the molecular structure of food. Your body then
says."Hey what's this? This isn't food I can use!"
Then your body tries to get rid of it because it
looks at the radiated food as a toxin.

Microwaves have also been proven to change
the HDL/LDL values and ratios in your body.
Carcinogens (cancer causing) is formed in
almost all foods zapped by microwaves.

And the list goes on!

Check out this site for the details on
the dangers of microwave cooking...
www.tuberose.com/Microwave_Ovens.html

Keep it simple folks - stir fry, steam, or
use your oven - but stay away from those
microwaves.

Until next time,
Dr. Judy

Let's Begin to Stir the Pot!

I Love to stir the pot!

Look...
Listen...
THINK!

We tend to take things at face value -
we look at tv and believe many things that
they tell us.

We listen to radio and figure we're caught
up on world events.

But do we stop and THINK??

A perfect example is about the Splenda
controversy - almost everyone I talk to
thinks its not so bad. It's just a simple
little sugar that might have a few chemicals,
but nothing real harmful.

Do you really think that this fake sugar
industry is out to make you feel healthy or
sick??? Where do they profit from the most,
your health or your illness?

Big pharma, AMA, insurance companies are all
out to make sure you do NOT get well!

I don't even put the blame on doctors anymore
since they're just as brainwashed as the media
makes us out to be! In fact, if they don't
prescribe a certain amount of drugs according
to their protocol, they get written up!

Back to splenda...
This simple little 'sweetener' has no calories
and is supposed to be a simple way to have your
sweets and eat it too. No way folks! There are
serious side effects with this stuff.

Just type it into google...
splenda and side effects.

A nice alternative is to use other sweeteners:
stevia
brown rice syrup
agave syrup
honey
molasses

Lots of choices here! The best is not to use
anything since sugar is an acid pH that will
not well in your body.

Let's start thinking about what the food
industry is trying to do to us and make
the RIGHT choices - foods that are hardly
processed at all. Staying happy by spending
at least an hour or two outside and watching
the clouds float by....sharing kind words
with those you love. It's a great way to start!

Until next time,
Dr. Judy

Healthcare Doesn't Work...here's what does!

The healthcare system won't help you when you're
down and out. You'll be lucky to collect on the
health insurance!

Don't be worried about getting sick!

There's plenty of tried and true Alternative
Medicine therapies I've seen work in my clinic.
I want to share these with you so YOU don't ever
have to worry about diseases that can devastate
your life.

The first place to start is to realize you have
options. Many options. Here are a few I've used
in my clinic:
~ hyperbaric oxygen therapy
~ oxygen therapy
~ mercury removal
~ Vitamin C therapy
~ lymphatic drainage
~ enzyme therapy
~ colon hydrotherapy
~ pro fascia therapy

Guess what? Everyone of these can be used by you
in the comfort of your own home! I used these in
my clinic simply to work with people and get them
started. But preventive care begins with the
knowledge that you CAN heal yourself. You can
reverse most diseases.

Take back the power of being in control of your
own health.

Until next time,
Dr. Judy
