I am so tired of society's focus on having a
perfect diet which is 'supposed' to equal a perfect
body.
Don't get me wrong... I do believe eating well
is very important. And yes, I do believe food is
our medicine. However, there is sooooo much more
to wellbeing than just food.
I love the study that's been going on where they
ask centenarians (people who live to 100 years)
what their secret is to a long healthy life.
The first time I heard about these studies was
at an Anti-Aging conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Doctors from all over the world were there to
learn how to keep people looking gorgeous as
they aged. Med-spa's were popping up all over
the world to keep up the image of aging
gracefully.
But what surprised me the most was when
Ken Dychtwald, phd spoke at the conference
and showed that the most common reason that
people lived to a ripe old age of 100 was
because they had a great attitude, belief in
God, and living for what they believe in.
Eating specific foods to maintain health
was far down the list!
Surprise! Surprise!
When we are happy, having healthy relationships,
helping others, giving, these are qualities
that keep us healthy. Mental, emotional, and
spiritual balance are extremely important
for our wellbeing. I believe that without
feeling loved or loving others is much
more detrimental to our health than
what we eat.
Until next time,
Dr. Judy
